“This is an EXCELLENT photo to describe old vs new style of frame design. The main triangle is what we now call “Compact Geometry”. The top tube has simply been lowered (obviously). Notice how the drop stem that used to be necessary to get the bars in the right position now seems awkward. Why go up so high just to come down again?
The logical steps would be to:
- Lower the spot where the seat stays meet the seat tube.
- Use more seat post
- Trim the head tube
- Install a rise stem to meet the bars.
- Come away with a significantly lighter bike because you used trimmed so much material from the frame.
Boom!”

Fuck I need this in my backyard.
Goddamn fixies.
This bike race is a lot like puberty.
It’s Awkward, shaky, then suddenly creeps up on you like an East German on steroids.
It’s important to watch all 6 minutes of this.
One of the weirdest sporting events I’ve ever seen.
Am I a fairly big bike nerd from recognizing the narrator, and having have seen this video a while ago? And understanding this shit already? uhhh…
